Driver City of Edinburgh Universities Officers' Training Corps

Unit Role:  Unit Role: To develop the leadership potential of selected university students through enjoyable and challenging training, raising awareness of the Army's ethos and building interest in its career opportunities; in order to secure their commitment, whether as officers or as future leaders in their chosen profession, to champion the Army in society

Position Role:  To support the CO in delivering the requirements of the UOTC Directive.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible to the RQMS/MTWO for all MT matters. 
2. Assist with the day-to-day running of the MT when on duty.
3. Assist the MTWO with the training and preparation of the OCdts for driving Cadres.
4. Assist the MTWO in making sure that all staff are aware of all current driving regulations and that these are implemented.
5. Complete additional tasks as required for the unit.
6. Opportunity to develop roles such as PTI, pipe band or AT instructor.

Care of Trainees (CoT ) Cse (can be completed in post)

Driving Licence Cat B, B1 BE C D1 as a minimum

ITR/ AT Instructor qualifications useful to assist with unit deliverables.

MT background to assist with tasks in post.

An Understanding of the training environment

Post will be boarded on 51X Regional Appointment Board (RAB) after the closing date.

This is a small training unit where the role will adapt to suit the skills of the successful applicant. Training is delivered through 5 weekends during university term time, Wednesday nights and an ADX in early June. Staff are expected to be comfortable with supporting activity both aligned to and outside their normal career fields.

Domestic Considerations: 

1. RSDs - Minimum of 44 RSDs p.a. More may be available.
2. Be prepared to work training nights and training weekends.
3. Training required: Basic COT (in post), SSCC UOTC (in post), PREVENT, heat injury prevention module 1,Non-essential Hazmat Road movement
