Vacancy detail

Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a OF4 to serve as DE&S Professional Engineer at DE&S, MOD Abbey Wood on FTRS(HC) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of 01 Jul 2023.

Unit Function    

To train the Joint Force of today and Optimise the Joint Force of Tomorrow


Position Role

Lead a multidisciplinary team in the delivery of engineering function products as set out in the Engineering Management Plan by bringing together technological problem-solving and management abilities to oversee projects. To provide analyses and technical advice in relation to area of expertise and / or technical assurance of complex projects.

Responsibilities


1.    Manage the delivery of all engineering aspects in area of responsibility as defined in the assignment specification or objectives including managing the acquisition safety aspects.
2.    Provide expert advice and guidance in own technical area to solve complex technical problems and identify application risks.
3.    Manage the technical requirements for the acquisition lifecycle stage of one or more project, programme, service or system
4.    Monitor and implement any governance and assurance policies and procedures to ensure the ‘safe & professional’ status of the area led.
5.    Lead on the development of requirements related to own area of specialism including acceptance plans, performance criteria and draft specifications.
6.    Interface with industry as the intelligent customer both in a scrutiny role and supporting the identification of application risks
7.    To hold Safety Responsibilities (SR)

Must be an OF4 of the Engineering specialisation. OF3 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

Security Clearance (SC)

Level 4 (or higher) qualification in engineering

Chartered or Incorporated Engineer or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge skills and experience
