INITIAL NAVAL TRAINING MISSION: To Militarise and Marinise. Turning civilians into sailors to meet the future needs of a modern Royal Navy.

POST HOLDER’S TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Role. The Post Holder’s primary purpose is to be Responsible for all support functions to INT (R) for all Royal Navy and Royal Naval Reserve New Entry ratings as directed by Commander Training on personal and professional matters in accordance with Initial Naval Training (R) Management of Training System (MTS) Documentation and Procedures and HMS Raleigh Standing Orders.

Primary Tasks. 

  • Act as Staff Officer to Cdr Training.
  • Act as Chief of Staff for INT (R) HQ (coordination of training delivery/training support requirements for Shannon/Whittal)
  • Act as I/C of Ganges and Conqueror Divisions.
  • Provide oversight to the Training Support Group (TSG).
  • Act as INT(R) Risk Manager.
  • Deputise for OCINT as required.
  • Remain in date for all mandatory training and NCT competences.

    Secondary Duties

    The Post Holder is required to conduct the following secondary duties when called upon.

    • Act as 1RO to SO3 TS, SO3/WO1 CAST, Corporate Sqn WOs, and 2RO to all CPOs assigned to Corporate Sqn, Phase 1.5 and Conqueror.
    • Supervise the SJAR/OJAR plot for INT(R), to include but not be limited to alignment meetings, tracking of annual JPA checks, RNFT statistics, MPAR dates and submission deadlines.
    • Collate all INT(R) Statements of Need (SoN) and monitor all Building Manager returns.
    • Analyse all INT(R) and Ph2 C&W related BIS products for trends and issues.
    • Be a member of the Duty Commanding Officer’s roster.
    • Act as Inspecting Officer on the Training and Ceremonial Divisions rosters.
    • To attend HMS RALEIGH DHoDs representing INT(R).

    Must be an OF3 of ANY specialisation. OF2 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR will be considered. 

    OF4 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and normally wear the rank of OF3.

    Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

    To be a Post Charge Lieutenant Commander Royal Navy.   

    Desirable on application but must be gained whilst in post:

    • All Mandatory RN/Civil Service training requirements as detailed on HRMS/JPA/AO
    • Care of Trainees (CoT)
    • Divisional Officers Course/ Divisional refresher
    • Defence Training Manager and COT DBS check

    Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

    Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

    Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


    INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

    NB: Where the Anticipated Start date has already passed, the start date will be ASAP


    Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

    Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

    Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

    Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
