The Role

You will play a pivotal role in developing both trainees and colleagues’ personal and professional growth whilst actively promoting and cultivating an inclusive and diverse environment where everyone feels valued, respected and empowered.
Joining the Capability Training Unit (CAPTU), focused on delivering Pre-Joining Training (PJTs), you will be giving Royal Navy Engineers the system and equipment specific knowledge required for them to deliver Operational Capability to front line units anywhere in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering training to groups of up to 24 trainees in Electrical and Electronic engineering and machine principals.
- Conducting practical lab sessions demonstrating key principles and supervising trainee experiments.
- Marking and check marking assessments to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintaining and updating training materials in consultation with Training Design staff.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual who demonstrates:
- Teaching experience in an adult education environment is preferred; however, Defence Trainer Course training will be provided if required, with opportunities for further civilian teaching qualifications.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging learners.
- The ability to work with others in the development of engineering training.
- Qualifications: L3 NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
- Be a UK citizen or British Dual National, having lived in the UK for a minimum of five years continuously prior to application
- Hold a full UK Driving License covering manual vehicles.
Training
- Royal Navy Initial Militarisation Course
- Courseware upskilling packages relevant to training course responsibilities.
- Workplace Induction and specific accredited training as required
Salary & benefits
- Salary: £43,216 – £47,586 per year.
- Pension: automatic enrolment in the non-contributory Armed Forces Pension Scheme 2015 (optout available).
- Leave: 30 days’ annual leave plus eight UK bank holidays.
- Other benefits: Enhanced parental leave packages, and flexible service arrangement, On site gym, catering, shops and secure parking.
