Domestic considerations: This is a fully deployable, very high readiness component role within UK Commando Forces. Applicants must be able to undertake a 2-year FTRS (FC) contract and be capable of being deployed within unit readiness notice and of maintaining UKCF deployment standards. Commanding the Sqn from its London headquarters, frequent visits will be required to RHQ in Chivenor, to the detached troop locations in Bath and Birmingham, and to unit training in UK and abroad. As this is a reserve sub-unit, the applicant should expect to deploy on 12-18 weekends per year, plus 2-week annual deployment exercises. Readiness will also be required to establish a LNO node within PJHQ in contingency
Position role: Squadron Commander 131 Commando Squadron
Responsibilities: 1. Command 131 Commando Squadron in support of 24 Cdo RE and UK Commando Forces. 2. Lead the preparation, training and readiness of the Sqn for operations. 3. Deliver capability to deployments within unit readiness timescales. 4. Oversee a robust equipment care culture to ensure the delivery of engineer capability. 5. Support recruiting and retention initiatives, minimise outflow and optimise efficiency. 6. Act as the employing officer for all sub-unit personnel, leading on career management and welfare. 7. Lead on officer education and provide the unit focal point for RE Reserve training development and liaison. 8. Develop Sqn-specific policy and manage the RSD and imprest funds provided through HQ Maritime Reserves. |
