Vacancy detail

Subject to formal establishment, a vacancy will arise for a Knowledge & Information Manager at the Defence Simulation Centre (DSC) in the rank of OF4, on either ADC, VeRR, PTVR or VTOD Terms and Conditions of Service (TaCoS).

180 days per annum are available to deliver this 36-month role. Proposed start date is 01 May 25.

Task requirements:

This is a great opportunity to work within Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC)’s DSC in an important and expanding role.  The Defence Modelling and Simulation Office (DMSO) operates as a cohering force for Modelling & Simulation (M&S) across Defence.  Its mission is to enable Defence to operate, integrate, innovate, develop and adapt through the exploitation of M&S by promoting coherence and interoperability of MOD M&S activity across Defence and with Allies.

The DSC is the Front Door for all M&S enquiries – including Service users, industry, academia and allies – and is a vital part of this mission. The DSC acts as a hub to enable exploitation, management, and interoperability through the sharing and re-use of M&S resources. The DSC Knowledge and Information Manager is key to the efficient running of this enterprise. They must develop, implement and continually review and refine the DMSO’s Information Governance, including Information Management Strategy (IMS), policy and processes to promote best practice and maintain compliance with statutory obligations.

The Knowledge and Information Manager is responsible for promoting collective learning from experience (LFE) and facilitating the sharing of ‘tacit’ knowledge within organisations. This is the expertise, experience and ‘know-how’ individuals bring to the organisation and also the collective experience of groups of individuals, such as business units, project teams, task forces, international partners, academia and industry. They will deliver the DMSO Communications plan output.

Responsibilities:

  • Collating M&S knowledge from across Defence (including international allies and partners, industry and academia) using established databases.
  • Overseeing and setting policy for the DMSO media - including internet and intranet profiles, Teams and SharePoint sites, engagement with StratCom Media and Comms, and the M&S Wiki.
  • Maintain all Governance documentation as required by MOD and UK StratCom.
  • Represent the DSC in key Working Groups and meetings.
  • Support membership and meetings of the DMSO Industry Advisory Group (DIAG).
  • Undertake line management and mentoring of the HEO Knowledge and Information Assistant.
  • Deputise for Assistant Head DSC during absences and at meetings as required.

Working within DMSO and the wider Integrated Warfare Centre (IWC) provides superb opportunities to undertake personal and professional development, including supporting major Joint exercises. A comprehensive program of Force Development provides regular opportunities to undertake overseas Battlefield Studies.

Must be an OF4 from any Service in any specialisation.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

OF3 applicants with a recommendation for the next rank may be considered subject to sS approval.
