A vacancy has arisen for a OF3 to serve as SO2 Information Operations Europe at PJHQ Joint Effects on a FTRS Full Commitment Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with the opportunity to start immediately or for a proposed start date to be discussed.

Unit Function  

PJHQ J3 Joint Effects (JE) is the UK military hub for operational level Full Spectrum Targeting.  Working across PJHQ, UK Defence, Whitehall, NATO, US Combatant Commands and Theatre HQs, we align operational demand with UK capability to deliver Full Spectrum Effects in either a national or coalition construct.  

The team seeks to integrate Information Activities, Cyber and Electro-Magnetic Activities and kinetic activities from the outset of any planning activity.  J3 JE is also responsible for the Storm Shadow Centralised Mission Planning Facility and the Cruise Missile Support Activity.  

Position Role

The role of SO2 Information Operations Europe is to support the planning, coordination, synchronisation, and delivery of all Information Activities, including 'understand' activity across all Theatres but with focus on Europe.

Responsibilities: 
1.  Support Info Ops (and where necessary wider JE) input into PJHQ operational planning and directives, working closely with PJHQ J5 and MOD Military Strategic Effects (MSE).
2.  Support Info Ops (and where necessary wider JE) input into PJHQ management of current operations, working closely with PJHQ J3 and MSE. 
3.  Lead monitoring & evaluation of virtual and cognitive dimensions, working closely with PJHQ J2 and other Defence organisations.
4.  Participate in PJHQ battle rhythm, maintaining situational awareness and contributing Info Ops input to meetings as required.
5.  Secretary to Info Ops / JE Working Groups related to Europe. 
6.  Liaise with deployed and deployable HQs (including components, SJFHQ and JFHQ) to align the monitoring and evaluation of audiences.
7.  Liaise with other operational HQs (sS, bi-lat partners and NATO) to align the monitoring and evaluation of audiences.
8.  Support development of Info Ops and JE processes and procedures  and input to Defence policy and doctrine with a particular focus on the monitoring and evaluation of audiences.
9.  Promote awareness of StratCom, JE and Info Ops across PJHQ and with external audiences as appropriate.

Must be an OF3 of ANY specialisation. OF2 applicants with a recommend for the next higher rank in their most recent OJAR may be considered. 

OF4 applicants, if successful, will only be paid as and normally wear the rank of OF3.

Must be serving as a member of the Reserve Forces or have served with the Regular Forces.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES

JIOC & JOPC - Can be completed in post.

DV - Requires incumbent to be read on to compartmentalized capabilities, dual nationality may hinder this depending on country.

FTC, Cyber 101 and Cyber M0A - Can be completed once in post.

Applicants will undergo an initial eligibility sift. Successful applicants will have their details forwarded to the Post Sponsor to arrange interviews. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Following interviews; the successful applicant will be informed that they are the Preferred Candidate with details being sent to the CM RES FTRS Cell who will continue the recruitment process. Unsuccessful applicants will be advised accordingly.

Once the recruitment process is complete then the Preferred Candidate will be invited to take up FTRS.


INITIAL COMMITMENT LENGTH WILL BE 24 MONTHS WITH POTENTIAL TO EXTEND

The start date will be ASAP

Domestic Considerations: The role may require occasional overseas travel. Operational requirements may dictate short-notice irregular working hours

Eligibility for FTRS/ADC

Any member of the Maritime Volunteer Reserves (RNR, RMR) or the Royal Fleet Reserves (RFR) (Ex-Regular Reserve) may volunteer to undertake a period of FTRS/ADC. Ex-Regular personnel whose RFR liability has run out may be re-instated to take up FTRS/ADC.

Applicants undertaking a period of FTRS/ADC must be suitably qualified by rank, specialisation, qualifications and experience to fill the posts for which they apply. Applications will be accepted from reservists who hold one rank or more above or one rank only below the advertised rank. Applicants one rank below may be interviewed at the discretion of the Line Manager and may be employed in the acting higher rank if they are suitable, qualified and meet current promotion regulations in all respects. Applicants prepared to serve in a position at a lower rank then the rank worn will be appropriate to that of the position. Exceptions will not normally be considered.

Applicants must also be medically fit to fulfil the duties which their Commitment will require them to undertake. Personnel who have been discharged P8 permanently unsuitable Naval Service through the MBOS and Employability Board will not be considered.
